A clear boundary

What stays. What moves.

Different features handle different kinds of text. Each connection has a purpose you choose.

Feature On your device When data leaves
Local AI Drafting and refinement run with a downloaded model in Desktop and TUI. Model downloads contact the model host. Local inference keeps drafts on your device.
Local snippet search A SQLite index searches titles, shortcuts, and content. No model required. No network request for search. Optional library sync is a separate operation.
Repeated-text suggestions Opt-in observation produces local candidates, counts, and ignored fingerprints. These are excluded from sync. A reviewed snippet saved to a synced or shared library uploads through normal sync.
Sync & shared libraries You can keep libraries local. Choose sync or a shared library to send saved snippets through synchronization.
Hosted AI A separate optional choice from downloaded local models. Hosted processing sends text to the selected hosted AI service.
Observation starts off

Choose what to notice.

Enable repeated-text observation when you want suggestions. Exclude applications, change retention, and turn observation off at any time.

Password fields, terminals, and unsupported fields are excluded. Application accessibility support varies.

Review before you save

Choose what to keep.

Delete a candidate, never suggest it again, or edit it into a snippet. Forget learned text clears candidates and counts while leaving saved snippets intact.

Turning observation off stops collection; existing candidates remain until expiration or forgetting.

Good questions

A little more clarity.

Do suggestions use AI?

No. Suggestions find repeated wording locally and offer it for review. They do not complete text inline or require an AI model.

Does turning on local AI turn on sync?

No. A downloaded local model handles drafting and refinement on your device. Optional sync and shared libraries are separate choices.

Are suggestion candidates encrypted at rest?

Candidate files have owner-restricted access, but this is not encryption at rest. Forgetting learned text cannot erase copies made by operating-system backups.
